Now on to the strengths... We hold two quality kitemarks (UK and USA) via the British Standards Institu- tion (BSI) both are recognized by government as a benchmark for quality. We also hold accreditation to the Equality Standard - A Frame- work for Sport, again recognized by government and also Sport England, UK Sport and all sports councils - so our commitment to quality and equality has been measured, tested and audited from respected external agencies. You don’t get the quality and equality accreditations by sitting down and doing nothing.


Members benefit from our quality and equality awards - raising mar- tial arts to a wider audience thus increasing club membership and ensuring that the public are aware of the quality NAKMAS instructors and clubs. The official documents issued to our affiliated clubs, groups, associations and govern- ing bodies bear our accreditation symbols which are immediately identified by local authorities, gov- ernment, sports centres and others.


Externally produced full colour magazines, the NAKMAS In Touch and the NAKMAS Stay Safe magazines are considered by other sports governing bodies as a fine example on good governance and best practice. Welfare issues, child and young people safeguarding,

real life case studies that affiliates have encountered have proved invaluable to members. Copies of these magazines are sent to all relevant government departments, media and other contacts and we have had members of parliament write to us and congratulate us on our excellent magazines containing vital information, tips and advice.


Anti bully badged as the NAKMAS Safe Kids Campaign to children with supporting posters and credit card size advice cards are available for free to all affiliated members. This has been one of the great successes that NAKMAS has created and we also get the media and similar agencies involved whilst our members deliver the NA- KMAS Safe Kids Campaign. Many thousands of children have re- ceived advice, help and assistance relating to bullying and abuse. It’s a free service offered by NAKMAS.


Tons of other good practice, includ- ing the updated NAKMAS Welfare Policy (NSPCC reviewed) as a fine example, are just some areas to provide the effectiveness of a governing body like NAKMAS.


So passionate are we on protecting our licensed instructors, assistant instructors, club secretaries and club welfare officers, that we pro- vide them with a free, unrestricted, professional indemnity insurance at £5 million pounds which provides worldwide cover around 365 days years, 24r hours a day. This is also backed up with a child protec- tion abuse cover of £500,000 per


We have just launched a marketing and media tool for all NAKMAS affiliates promoting their activities to a wider audience thus increasing membership with all NAKMAS af- filiated clubs. Our press officer is work- ing tirelessly to ensure greater public awareness to the benefits of membership to Brit- ain’s leading national governing body.


Above all else, we have paid staff at a full time head office who are there to provide an infrastructure that everyone within NAKMAS is able to benefit from. Chief instructors, secretaries and welfare officers benefit from a se- cure area of the NAKMAS website so valuable and urgent updates
